What are “Minor Ailments”?
Minor ailments are common health conditions that are generally short-term, uncomplicated, and can often be treated with pharmacist support. A pharmacist assessment can save you time and help you avoid long waits at a clinic.
Conditions we may be able to help with
Depending on provincial regulations and pharmacist scope of practice, minor ailment services may include assessment and treatment for conditions such as:
- Allergies / hay fever
- Cold sores
- Acid reflux / heartburn
- Hemorrhoids
- Mild eczema / dermatitis
- Minor fungal infections (e.g., athlete’s foot)
- Minor skin rashes or irritation
- Uncomplicated urinary tract infection (UTI) when eligible
- Conjunctivitis (pink eye) when eligible
- Impetigo / mild skin infections when eligible
- Insect bites / hives
- Nausea / vomiting when eligible
- Oral thrush when eligible

When to see a doctor or go to urgent care
Minor ailments services are for non-emergency issues. Please seek urgent medical attention if you have:
- Chest pain, shortness of breath, severe allergic reaction
- High fever that won’t go down, severe dehydration
- Severe or worsening pain, fainting, confusion
- Symptoms lasting longer than expected or getting worse quickly
- Blood in urine/stool, sudden vision changes, severe headache
- Any concern that feels urgent or serious
